Kitchens have changed over time from areas simply for the preparation of food to being social hubs for both families and entertaining. We are all about transforming these spaces into functional and welcoming spaces for the household chefs and their guests
We all spend time in our bathrooms daily and these spaces for the frequency of use should be both functional and pleasant spaces as characterized by efficiency, and style. But these charactristics are very personally defined. We work to help you find what these terms of function and style mean to you and then form that into a vision for your unique space that pleases you.
Specializing in the restoration of porches on older homes, we are not afraid of rot and know how to address and fix it, restoring your porch to its original glory both structurally and aesthetically. We also build new porches and entryways.
Starting my career 35 years ago doing historic rehab, it remains a first love. I have restored rotted buildings, historic elements of buildings, and repaired all manner of damage to buildings from fire and other forces. More photos and examples of this kind of work to follow.
Fireplaces are focal points in rooms and while these days, they are not as utilitarian as they once were, they still can offer immense beauty and atmosphere to a room. Building hearths are a blast! This hearth was built around a zero clearance gas firebox from custom milled cherry, a steel heat break, salvaged slate and modified doors for a base. We have also made them from salvaged historic moldings and new materials shown in the second fireplace pitures.
A particular love I have is what I call ‘Keeping old things alive’; the re-purposing of historic architectural elements and working those into homes. For instance taking a leaded glass transom window and working it into a salvaged mahogany door and installing that into a salvaged gum-wood frame with a transom window. It is the entry into our study. As you will see through the pictures in this section I have reworked old doors into a stairwell enclosure, a salvaged door on a renovation into a pocket door, modifying a salvaged 6 panel door into a three panel door for a pantry, and an old milk box turned into storage in a powder room. I built my own kitchen out of salvaged gumwood, transom windows and cabinet panels. If you have an old element you love I would greatly enjoy helping you work that into an active part of your home.
We built a gate to contain a customer’s dogs but wanted it to tie in with the rest of the house. Using the house’s unique entry as inspiration, we designed the gate the arch providing the necessary required support to keep the gate from sagging.
Before
I worked for Browncroft Community Church as their Owners Representative on two projects : A facade, roof and classroom renovation project and Phase two a $5m sanctuary, lobby, fellowship hall and associated common spaces renovation. I participated in this function through design, budgeting, final design, bidding and construction. I coordinating with and on behalf of the church with the Design Team and Construction Manager. On both projects we held the project under budget and essentially on schedule. The project was a success for all involved.
